Maine Gambling Facility earns Casino LicenseHollywood Slots is a gambling facility located in Bangor, Maine that, in the past, only offered slot gaming and off track betting options. The facility has now been granted a casino license by the Maine Gambling Control Board so they can now add such games as let it ride poker, craps, roulette and more!
This will be the first fully functional casino in the state of Maine and gamblers are sure to be excited about the changes. The casino will now be called Hollywood Casino Bangor and will reopen on March 16th to offer Let It Ride poker, Three Card Poker, craps, roulette, Texas Hold’em and blackjack.
With the fourteen new table games that will be added to the casino, almost one hundred jobs will be added to the casino. But the biggest change with the casino will be the amount of gamblers. More people are expected to come out to the casino since they will no longer have to leave the state to play table games.
Despite the excitement over the changes, there are some who are not in favor of the addition of the table games. The Christian Civic League of Maine does not agree with gambling and they are still trying to keep casinos out of the state. Carroll Conley the executive of the organization commented: “We don’t think it makes sense economically, and we have great concerns about the social costs as well. We will continue to fight any expansion.”
The Gambling Control Board is taking precautions to make sure that the table games only bring fun and revenues to the state. The board set strict and extensive rules for the table games which included surveillance and money handling as well as the size of the dice.
